Advocacy Committee

TYPE OF COMMITTEE:

STANDING COMMITTEE as established by the Library Association of Alberta bylaw.

PURPOSE:

To ensure LAA acts as a unified, responsive, and relevant advocacy voice for Alberta libraries.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with other library associations and groups provincially, nationally and internationally to advocate on issues relevant to our membership
  • Create and maintain advocacy tools for members

COMPOSITION AND APPOINTMENT

  • The Committee is chaired by the 1st Vice President
  • Members at large may volunteer
  • Members serve a one-year term
  • Members are recruited in August each year
