LAA works both formally and informally with several organizations to connect with the broader national and international work of libraries. 

 


 

The Partnership 

The Partnership

The Partnership is Canada's national network of provincial and territorial associations. This informal network twice yearly to share information and collaborate on shared services and programs for members of their respective associations.

The LAA board elects a representative from amongst the board members to represent Alberta at the Partnership. 

Reports from the representative are tabled at monthy board meetings and key Partnership updates are shared with the LAA membership through the newsletter. 


Canadian Federation of Library Associations

Canadian Federation of Library Associations

The Canadian Federation of Library Associations is the united voice of Canada's libraries. They work to influence public policy, advance library excellence and raise the visibility of libraries in Canada. It is a voting member of IFLA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions.

The LAA board is a member of the CFLA, and elects a representative from amongst the board members to sit on the board of the CFLA as the Alberta representative.

Reports from the Alberta representative are tabled at monthy board meetings and key CFLA updates are shared with the LAA membership through the newsletter. 


International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions

The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions is the international body representing the interests of libraries. 

The LAA is kept abreast of IFLA activities through its membership in the CFLA. When required, the Alberta representative to the CFLA votes on IFLA-related issues brought forward at the CFLA board level.


Provincial and Territorial Library Associations 

Through its work on the CFLA, the Partnership, and other informal networking activities, the LAA routinely connects and networks with board members of all provincial and territorial llbrary associations.
